FAR S.p.A. Tempered Steel Wire
Italian wire expertise for demanding spring applications.
The company
F.A.R. S.p.A., part of Steelgroup, manufactures high-strength tempered wire in Villapaiera di Feltre, northern Italy. Its customers manufacture springs and elastic components for automotive, mechanical engineering, agriculture and aerospace applications. 2-Aces provides exclusive commercial representation in Türkiye.

Round wire · grades and diameters
Manufacturer’s catalogue ranges, not a stock list. Availability, tensile strength, tolerances and inspection requirements must be confirmed for the selected grade and diameter.
| Family / grade | Diameter (mm) | Application / specification |
|---|---|---|
| Carbon steel · FD C | 3.00–18.50 | Static applications; TD C and VD C on technical consultation. |
| FD SiCr | 3.00–18.50 | Static / moderate fatigue |
| FD SiCr HR | 5.60–17.00 | High tensile · 1,850–1,950 MPa* |
| FD SiCr KR | 3.50–16.00 | Very high tensile · 1,950–2,050 MPa* |
| TD SiCr | 3.00–18.50 | Medium fatigue; clutch / transmission springs |
| VD SiCr | 3.00–18.50 | High fatigue; valve springs and comparable duties |
| VD SiCr SC | 3.00–10.00 | Super Clean · shaved surface; designation to confirm for SiCrV |
| FD SiCrV | 3.00–18.50 | Static / moderate fatigue |
| FD SiCrV HR | 5.60–17.00 | High tensile · 1,850–1,950 MPa* |
| FD SiCrV KR | 3.50–16.00 | Very high tensile · 1,950–2,050 MPa* |
| TD SiCrV | 3.00–18.50 | Medium fatigue; clutch / transmission springs |
| VD SiCrV | 3.00–18.50 | High fatigue; valve springs and comparable duties |
| Super Clean SiCrV | 3.00–10.00 | Super Clean · shaved surface; designation to confirm for SiCrV |
CrV is also listed by FAR. Diameter range and detailed specification: on request.
* HR/KR values are FAR catalogue indications where they exceed the standard; they do not apply to every grade or diameter. The carbon row is labelled FD SiCr in the brochure’s summary, while its dedicated carbon section specifies FD C. We use the dedicated section; confirm the order designation with FAR.
Shaped wire and flats
Square, rectangular, oval, trapezoidal and polygonal sections, or a customer drawing: tempered or untempered wire for springs, retaining rings and formed parts. Natural-edge flats are also offered. Carbon and microalloyed steels; section dimensions, edge geometry, tolerances and strength are agreed per project. FAR does not publish a universal width/thickness range here.

Standards and quality options
EN 10270-2 is the principal reference for tempered round spring wire, with FD, TD and VD classes. For hard-drawn shaped wire, FAR refers to equivalent EN 10270-1 tensile classes. The brochure also cites ASTM A229, A401, A1000 and A877, JIS G3568 / G3561 and BS references as nearby standards: equivalence is not automatic and must be checked for the order.
Options include high tensile HR/KR, Super Clean steel and surface shaving. Super Clean describes enhanced inclusion cleanliness, not a separate EN grade. Eddy-current inspection and its coverage depend on the specification. FAR states ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 qualifications; request current certificates and the agreed inspection documents with your enquiry.
